AISH Summer Seminar
I am honored to have facilitated an intercultural competency session at AISH - Academy for International School Heads Summer Seminar in Toronto last weekend. The session built on last year's seminar in Austria, exploring strategies for fostering belonging specifically in international schools.
Participants revisited anchor texts and identified specific problems of practice within international schools, then workshopped solutions in small groups. Research confirms that proximity alone does not foster belonging. These efforts are even more complex in international schools with constituents from scores of different nationalities, cultures, languages, and religions.
Beyond the meaningful learning, the community sets this seminar apart. Over two days, I shared meals and conversations with fellow participants, learned from their experiences and insights, and joined the winning team at Quiz Night.
I am grateful to Sheena Nabholz and Jeff Paulson for the invitation to return for the second year to AISH and I am looking forward to our ongoing partnership.
